No More Tear Left To Cry

Hanabi

Summary:
1. Land of the rising sun (again) - Journey to my Zen

i. Visiting Mt Fuji was always one of my dream. The majestic mountain just lying there and can be seem from every angle everywhere you went. Since there're no other mountains nearby making the mountain even unique and standalone. Guess this is why even there are 36 famous ukiyo-e drawing praising Mt Fuji. Ah… I feel Zen.
ii. The snow corridor, I came across this place after reading some tourist article online. The snow corridor was famous because of the high wall made from snow along the road. Planning this route seem troublesome but Japan always have the best transport arrangement and I survived!
iii. Kanazawa, land of the ninjas. I didn’t have must expectation on this city because it should be one of my stop place before heading to Shirakawa, but it surprised me! The Roku-en Garden, the Ninja house, the Gold leaf ice cream really amazed me.
iv. Shirakawa-go, the UNESCO heritage site. The unique houses in the village with snow mountain in the background created a fairyland. Such a breathtaking scene looking out from FOC viewpoint.

2. Land of the rising sun (& again) - Less travel path
Visiting Japan again in Dec. This was my 4th trip to Japan and I got a cheap flight (HKD850). This round I went to Hiroshima, visiting the infamous peace memorial building; went to Miyajima Shrine and Iwakuni Kintai Bridge; and Nagato’s Motonosumi Inari Shrine. The route I took this time is considered less travel path. I’m glad I visited these places although I wish to see more red maple leaves as most of the leaves were dead the time I’m there.

3. The amazing human stone carving art – Grottoes

Was a random obsession with grottoes ever since my visit to ChungQing city. Seeing stone carving in Dazu really amazed me on how Asian able to create such unique and fine details art carving during old time. With limited technology and tools, they still able to create such huge stone carving on the wall in the middle on the mountains.
And of course, after coming back from Dazu, I start google/wiki about other stone carving art and found out there’re more Grottoes and stone carving in China and my to-visit list starts expanding. Next I went to LuoYang town to visiting LongMen grottoes. Another great masterpiece of giant Buddha statue carving on the mountains. Such a breath-taking art. (Handclap!). Hope to visit other grottoes in future.

4. Land of thousand volcanoes

Bromo Hill was on my to-visit list this year. First time such a close distance to visit the crater of an active volcano with sulphureted smoke coming. And again, mother earth is the most creative artist in the whole world. The view looks alien but still majestic and special.

5. Penang 1.5 & 2.0 - Teochew & Hokkien

i. Visiting Teochew city during ChapGohMeh was one of the closest things that feels like Penang. The food, the street, the atmosphere, the crowd. Beside language barrier, everything feels like Georgetown.
ii. I got lucky to able to visit XiaMen & GuLangYu in Fujian province after GuLangYu was declared as World UNESCO heritage site. As I’m from Penang and partially Hokkian-lang, Xiamen feels home-y to me. Really enjoy walking around the town and alley and enjoy the street foods. :-)

6. Winter wonderland - -23 deg C!

It’s my family annual trip and this time my sis suggested to see snow. And here we are, land of the coldest city, Harbin. Although there’re dramas happened, but generally we enjoyed the trip a lot.

7. Mountains - karst mountains, snow mountain, sacred moutains, alpine route, 5 famous mountain, avatarland

Visiting ZhangJiaJie, Yangsuo, Mt Song, Mt. Yabuli, Mt Fuji, Tateyama Alpine route rather than go to the beach. I guess I enjoy seeing high grounds since I’m from an Island (Haha). Along the trip I hurt my knees, I slipped, got lost in the woods, but I still enjoy the view and sceneries along the road.

8. Hana-trip - Wisteria and Nemophila

Yes, man-made garden with dramatic mono-color scenery view also amazed me. Just like 张艺谋‘s Hero Movie. Guess I’m a simple-minded guy that enjoy being awed by these kind of parks or gardens. This is why I went to Hitachi Seaside Park twice to see the blue-flower park (although the weather seems so-so ish) and first time visit Wisteria-lane park. Never regret visiting these parks.
